Community Competition: Fly your Family Flag

Our next competition is all about creating family flags, so let’s get crafty!

We invite you to make a flag that celebrates your family, friends and loved ones. So grab that old bed sheet, ribbon, glue and sparkles and create a flag that shows everything that you love about your family. Big or small, painted, sewn, drawn or glittered, get creative and have fun!

To enter send us a picture of your flag to:
valencehousemuseum@lbbd.gov.uk

Don’t forget to tell us your ages – there will be a winner selected from the family and child (under 16) entries. So why not make this a family project and get all the household involved? Winners will receive £20 of Amazon vouchers and feature in a special post-lockdown museum display.

The deadline has been extended to midnight on Friday 19th June and the winners will be announced on Tuesday 23rd June .

Thanks to the Valence Volunteers for their generous sponsorship making this competition possible

And the winners are…

Congratulations to our winner in the family category, Isabella Pasquini with her cross-generational flag of handprints from her family and friends aged between 7 and 82 years old:

Congratulations to our winner in the children’s category Lois with her colourfully creative acrostic flag:

Thank you for all of the entries we received for the competition. We had a great response from the community and it was lovely to see so colourful and creative flags.

Isabella and Lois have each won £20 of Amazon vouchers and these flags along with our other entries will be used to create a special museum display once we re-open.
