Armed Forces Day

Saturday 30th June 2018

10am-4pm.

There will be an exhibition of archive material and museum objects on display in the Local Studies reading room and throughout the Study Centre all day investigating the Borough’s military history and experiences during wartime. Old newsreel films will also be playing throughout the day.

Timetable

10.30am – tour to see the V2 bomb recently acquired by the museum and on public display for the first time

11am – talk from Valence House’s Education Officer Mark Watson about the two world wars with an opportunity for object handling

12.30pm – singing from the Women’s Institute choir

1pm – Introduction to the Book of Remembrance project by Valence Volunteers who will also be selling the reprint of Danger Over Dagenham (all proceeds going to the Book of Remembrance)

1.30pm – tour to see the V2 bomb

2pm – talk by Mark Watson (as above)
