A series of field trips to test other walking routes and audio guides, selected by Veriity-Jane Keefe as a way to suggest alternative ways of developing a traditional device, often used in a heritage context.
The first Field Trip will see us do an artist produced audio guide and walk that starts at Whitechapel Gallery.
Janet Cardiff’s The Missing Voice (Case Study B) was commissioned by Artangel as part of Inner City in 1999. More information on the work below.
10.30am Meet at Barking Station. Support for the cost of travel is available, attendees will need to let Verity know in advance and meet at Barking Station to get your travelcard.
11.15am Meet outside Whitechapel Gallery, just next door to Aldgate East Station (District & Hammersmith & City Line)
Participants with a smartphone will be sent the audio guide in advance to install on their phones – please bring headphones with you. Those that do not have a smart phone, let us know, as Verity can get spares ready and pre-loaded in advance. We will all do the walk together and then return to the Whitechapel Gallery to discuss the work and experience and how sound will be used as a multi layered device as part of the EVERYDAY FUTURES audio guides.
Free event. Register your interest via Eventbrite.
Refreshments will be provided.
EVERYDAY FUTURES is a Heritage Lottery Funded project led by artist Verity-Jane Keefe in partnership with Barking & Dagenham’s Archives & Local Studies Centre at Valence House.
