Description
Wedding material from the marriage of the donors Grandmother, Florence Pearman. Receipt for the hire of a wedding carriage. Florence Pearman was born in Bottisham, Cambridgeshire on 18th December 1881 and was the fourth Daughter born to Walter John and Elizabeth Pearman (nee Samuel). In total there were seven Daughters and Fiour Sons. Walter was the Bottisham Village Blacksmith. Sometime between 1891 and 1901 the family moved from Bottisham to Warrago Cottages, Barking close to the Ship and Shovel public house on the A13. Florence entered service at the family home of Charles Bell in Buckhurst Hill, the owner of a match factory in Bromley-by-Bow. Florence married Alfred Stephens on 22nd July 1905 at St Margaret's Church Barking, and they lived at 5 Castle Road. Alfred was an agricultural labourer and had a small holding growing vegetables and rhubarb. They had three sons Henry, Jack and Ron and a daughter Joyce. Alfred was killed in amotoring accident in Upney lane in 1947. In 1954 Florence moved to the new Thames View Estate and later died in 1970.

Sigend in pencil below by Alfred Laker and the date July 22nd 1905. The telephone number appears in the top left and the address in the top centre.
