Physical description

Map of Essex, 1645. ?Essexia Comitatus.? Framed map showing the South East sector of Britain, containing the area of Essex. The map is in a white surround and a wooden frame. Running down the left edge are 8 coats of arms within a black strip. Above this is a red coat of arms within a blue ring with a crown on top.The bottom right hand corner has three cherubs around a plaque containing writing. Just above this are three sail boats and two sailing ships. The top right corner contains a red shield with three lions and a crown above. To the left of this is a drape with the title of the map written on it, showing a cherubs head in the middle of the top edge.
