Description

Bound hardbacked colour catalogue to the "Crown and Veil" exhibition held at Ruhrlandmuseum Essen, from March to June 2005. The exhibition showed the art of female monasticism of the Middle Ages. Valence House Museum loaned archaeological artifacts from the Barking Abbey site for inclusion in the exhibition, and are reproduced on pages 21, 89, 190 and 231, and as plates 111a-b, 124a-f and 125f in the book. This exhibition catalogue was given to the museum in appreciation for the loan of the objects.

Physical description

Hardbacked book printed throughout in German with glossy colour pictures. Contains 583 printed pages. The front cover contains the title in the lower quater on a green background, with a colour image of a detail of "Hitda-Evangelia aus dem Stift Meschede".
