Description
Printed ?Citizen? newspaper provided free to all homes in the London Borough of Barking (then incorporating Barking and Dagenham). Dated April 1974, No. 6. The front page contains an article on Cllr. Mrs Godfrey, the new Mayor-elect for the Borough, and mother of Mrs Hilda Bastable. Mrs Godfrey was elected as Mayor for the year 1974-5. Her daughter, Hilda Bastable was her Mayoress for this term. In the top right corner of the front page is a coloured photograph of Alderman George Crouch, Mrs Annie Thomas and Mr ?Jimmy? Beane with their illuminated Freedom of the Borough certificates.
