Description

Collection of four requests, over five pages, soliciting the attendence of the Mayor at various events. Photocopies of originals and stapled together in top left corner and marked ?mayoress? in the top right. From a collection of items documenting Mrs Godfrey's time as Mayor elect for London Borough of Barking for the year 1974-5. Her daughter, Hilda Bastable was her Mayoress for this term.

Physical description

Five pages of A4 paper in various styles. Sheet 1 - Request for Mayor to attend the presentation of trophy and medals for the .22 shooting competition of the 1147 (Barking) Air Training Corps. To be held on the 2nd May 1975 in the Squadron hut, 219 Longbridge Road, Barking. Requested by Flight Lieutenant J. R. Jopson. Handwritten on a formal request sheet. Sheet 2 - Handwritten letter requesting the presence of the Mayor and mayoress at the Young Citizens Guild's 18th anniversary celebrations on Saturday 3rd May 1975. Sheets 3 & 4 - Refer to the Mayor and Mayoress's attendance at the London Borough Mayor's Walk for the following year (Sunday 4th May 1975). Typescript sheets dated 29 July 1974. Sheet 5 - Typescript sheet requesting the Mayor to perform the official opening ceremony of the Central Area Open Space on Monday 5th May 1975.
