Description
Robe worn by the Deputy Mayor of Barking, and the Barking and Dagenham. The robe was used for ceremonial dress between 1930 and 1996. A new robe was purchased in 1996.
Physical description
Long maroon robe trimmed with black velvet and fox fur around the cuffs, neckband, and front seam, and with velvet around the hem. Is heavily pleated on the back and the sleeves have wide cuffs. There is a red satin ribbon on each shoulder.
