Description

Black and white photograph showing the Barking Unit Sea Cadet Corps in June 1945.The young boy in the front row on the far right is Peter Bastable, future husband of Hilda bastable, nee Godfrey. From a collection of items documenting Mrs Godfrey's time as Mayor elect for London Borough of Barking for the year 1974-5. Her daughter, Hilda Bastable was her Mayoress for this term.

Physical description

Black and white photograph showing 4 rows of young boys, of which the first three rows are dressed in sailor uniforms. The back row are dressed in suits. Also in the group are the uniformed leaders as well as civilian leaders. Some are holding musical instruments, and five drums have been paced on the floor in front of the front row. A cross has been drawn on the photograph in blue ink on the bottom right corner to indicate the location of Peter Bastable.
