Description

Silver medallion ?awarded to B[essie] Harrold for punctual attendance every time the school was open during the school year ended A.D. 1901?. Awarded by Barking School Board on behalf of North Street School. Bessie Harrold was the mother of the donor.

Physical description

Small circular medal. Obverse: embossed ?BARKING SCHOOL BOARD? on a convex shield, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns. Reverse: embossed ?AWARDED TO [B. HARROLD (engraved)] FOR PUNCTUAL ATTENDANCE EVERY TIME THE SCHOOL WAS OPENED DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDED A.D. 1901?. Surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns. Has a small piece of ribbon attached to the ring, coloured red, white and blue and roughly sewn together along to top edge.
