Framed certificate for the discharge of J.F. Boorman in W.W.I, from the Royal Berkshire Regiment.

Physical description

A framed illustrated certificate on paper. The illustration is in the centre of the certificate and is surrounded by a large area of empty white space. The illustration shows a scene framed by decorative columns toppped with a scrolled pediment.Two cherubs are sitting on top of the pediment at either end. In the center is the royal crest topped with a crown and lion. The central scene shows Brittanica seated ( on the right) on her throne, with her sword in her left hand (and shield below) and a Union Jack flag in her right hand. In front of her (on the left) are two fully uniformed soldiers standing to attention. They are holding their rifles vertically in front of them. In the lower right hand corner of the scene is an illustrated scroll, which is partly written and printed, given the discharge details. The columns, pediment, scroll and some text are in red whilst the scene and rest of text is in black.
