Souvenir booklet from the 1964 Barking Carnival, September 19th - 26th. Sixpence.
Eight page paper booklet. Has a green tone front cover showing the Curfew Tower in the centre foreground. To the left of this is a silhouette of the Town Hall Clock Tower, and to the right is the roof top and chimney of Eastbury Manor House. The title for the booklet is contained in three flags attached to a flag pole. The first page contains a message from the Mayor, Cllr. Joseph Butler, J.P. Page two has a photograph of the Carnival Queen, Linda Murrant, and her two attendants Gillian Towsey and Maureen Gammon. Page three has an advert for the Barking Road Safety Committee. Page four has an editorial on the Carnival Queen & Attendants, along with an advert for Holland's fun fair at carnival week. Page five shows a map of the carnival route. Page 6 shows an advert for 2 musical events held in the car park next to the Town Hall on 22nd and 23rd September. Pages seven and eight show the week's programme. Page nine has an advert for Civil Defence. Page 10 has details of the Mayor's Appeal fund 1963-64, plus and advert for the Barking and Dagenham Post. Page 11 has a photograph from the Barking Advertiser showing the 'Take the freedom from Hunger walk' to Southend on Whit Monday. The following four pages contain adverts for Eric Wade Musical Centre, Barking, Winch's LTD, Barking, Home Safety Committee, LCS, and Double Diamond.
