Memoirs of Ernest F. Acton
Written memoirs accompanying the piece of rayon suspension rope (LDVAL 2006.14.1) that came from an unexploded parachute mine, which fell on 6 Marsh Green Road, Dagenham at 22.44pm on 17th September 1940. The memoirs detail the donors time spent as part of the bomb disposal squad, and also tell the story of his involvement in defusing the unexploded bomb.
Three pages of handwritten memoirs, made up from two separate letters on plain white A4 paper. The first is date 20/09/05 and is written in black ink. The second is dated 9/3/06 and is written in blue ink.
